Officers with the Nassau County Police Department arrested Craig Blackwood, 20, of Uniondale on Sunday, Nov. 3.

According to police, Blackwood approached the male victim, who he allegedly already knew, while walking at the intersection of Front Street and Newport Road around 9 a.m.

Blackwood forcibly took the victim’s cell phone and Apple air pods and fled on foot, according to police.

Officers responded and located Blackwood, who allegedly fled, refused to comply with officers’ verbal commands and resisted arrest.

Blackwood was successfully taken into custody following a brief struggle, police say. He was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.

The victim’s property was returned, and no injuries were reported.

Blackwood is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, Nov. 4.
